Taste of Camp Week 4

10/31/2016

At Taste of Camp this week, our campers were able to show their creativity with some fun fall-themed arts and crafts projects!
Some campers chose to create macrame lanterns. By tying strategic knots in yarn around a jar, the campers were able to create beautiful lanterns to light their way!
Other campers chose to make plaster molds of their hands. The counselors helped each camper cover their hands in strips of plaster. Once the plaster dried, they were left with a replica of each of their hands!

After the art projects, we headed into some more choice activities. Some campers stayed inside to make friendship bracelets, while other headed out to play Can Jam, shoot stomp rockets, and enjoy the fall weather.

Our Taste of Camp day wouldn't have been complete without celebrating some birthdays! We ended our afternoon by singing to Ezra and Gordon and enjoyed some delicious cupcakes.

Yesterday was Flight Day at Taste of Camp!

Matzah Brie and Dill Pickles went outside to shoot stomp rockets. They tested out different methods of jumping or taking a running start and watched as the foam rockets soared through the sky!
Schnitzel and Pastrami on Rye also headed outside. Each camper got to have a turn flying a drone!
Knishes and Gefilte Fish worked in bunks to try to create something that would protect an egg during an Egg Drop. We tested out their creations by dropping them from the top floor staircase and watched as they fell all the way down to the nursery school. The Knishes were able to successfully protect their egg by cushioning it in yarn!
After their bunk activities, the Taste of Campers got to choose if they wanted to have some more fun with the stomp rockets, play a game of Can Jam, or make friendship bracelets.

The highlight of the day was celebrating not 1, not 2, but 3 birthdays! At the end of the activities, we sang happy birthday to Noah, Micah, and Sasha, and ate some delicious cupcakes.

After weeks of anticipation, our Little and Big Buddies have finally met each other!

Our second day of Taste of Camp started with an exciting Buddy Reveal. The Little Buddies were blindfolded and led outside, where their Big Buddies were lined up holding signs with each of their names on them. On the count of 3, the Littles took off their blindfolds and ran to find their Bigs!

After coming back inside for a delicious lunch spent getting to know each other, the buddy pairs got into groups and worked together to create Gingerbread Sukkot. Each pair also came outside to our Taste of Camp Photo Booth, and posed for some silly pictures with their buddy, which you can find below!

We had an amazing first day of Taste of Camp today!

After enjoying a delicious pizza lunch, campers and counselors endeavored on a Scavenger Hunt around the Temple. Obstacles included
completing a bean bag toss, sharing your favorite movie, playing on the playground, and posing for a bunk photo (which you can find below)! We then regrouped for dessert and split into three Chugim, or choice activities. Campers learned how to play Chinese Jacks, made friendship bracelets, and went outside to play Frisbee Golf. We finished up our day with an indoor campfire, where we watched a video the Big Buddies made for their Little Buddies.

We have a few weeks off from Taste of Camp now, but when we come back on Oct. 16 all of the campers will get to meet their very own Big Buddies and spend the afternoon with them!
