SHAFTY BOARD POSITIONS WITH DESCRIPTIONS
President
SHAFTY President is the primary representative of SHAFTY to our Temple Shalom community, to NFTY NE and the greater community. SHAFTY President will work with the advisor and board to set the goals and tone of SHAFTY for the year. The President will support and advise all SHAFTY Board members to help them most effectively reach their goals and keep all programs and activities moving toward the larger goals. The President will oversee the calendar and ensure that work is completed in a timely way and is well planned and organized.
Participation & Community VP
The Participation & Community VP (PCVP) will set a tone of welcome, positivity, warmth and openness throughout SHAFTY. The PCVP will be an example to others by making introductions, welcoming new people, including everyone. The PCVP will create and implement strategies to bring in new and unengaged participants to teh SHAFTY community. The PCVP will track participation, interest and involvement. The PVCP will plan events and activities to welcome incoming 9th graders and celebrate outgoing Seniors.
Programming & Logistics VP
The Programming & Logistics VP (PLVP) will be e a resource to SHAFTY Board members to help structure and plan all SHAFTY activities. THE PLVP will create a programming calendar for the year (Jan-Dec) that includes all SHAFTY and NFTY events and integrates the Temple Shalom calendar.
The PLVP will write up and distribute program plans for SHAFTY events to appropriate people. The PLVP will establish quality goals for each event/activity/programmatic moment and evaluate achievement of said goals
Religious & Cultural VP
The Religious & Cultural VP (RCVP) will integrate moments of Jewish study, ritual and prayer naturally into meetings, events and activities. The RCVP will be responsible for Erev Rosh Hashanna service and all worship experiences. The RCVP will communicate with Temple Shalom clergy about crossover events with Temple Community. The RCVP will create and implement a year-long plan for Jewish study/theme/prayer for SHAFTY.
Social Action VP
The Social Action VP (SAVP) will integrate intentional moments of social action, advocacy and TIkkun Olam naturally into meetings, events and activities. The SAVP will communicate with Temple Shalom leadership about crossover Social Action events with the Temple community. The SAVP will create and implement a year-long plan for Jewish social-action study/theme/activity for SHAFTY.
Marketing & Communications Manager
The Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) will update the website and FB page about SHAFTY related programs and activities. The MCM will create graphics/marketing material for events. The MCM will manage communication with SHAFTYites via phone, email, text and social media. The MCM will ensure that photographs are taken during SHAFTY events and programs. The MCM will publish photographs on website and social media. The MCM will continually update the members of the SHAFTY FB group to ensure that new members are added. The MCM will work with the PCVP to directly communicate with specific SHAFTYites (first time attendees, 9th graders, graduating seniors, potential leaders, etc)
NFTY Representative
The NFTY Representative (NFTY Rep) will be the SHAFTY liaison to NFTY NE. The NFTY Rep will help educate SHAFTYites about NFTY and NFTY NE events. The NFTY Rep will create and implement a strategy to engage interested SHAFTYites in NFTY and communicate directly with them about attending events. The NFTY Rep will attend NFTY Regional events and help connect SHAFTYites with the NFTY NE community during events, follow up with SHAFTY-ites following events and help foster good connections between SHAFTY and NFTY NE.
Financial Manager
The Financial Manager (FM) will create and maintain budgets for events when appropriate. The FM will create and sell SHAFTY merchandise. The FM will manage reimbursements for SHAFTYites when needed. The FM will oversee any fundraising efforts. The FM will be the liaison to any Temple Shalom fundraising events when needed.
